Clow Cavalcade of Planes
Musings by

Only days after the June FVFC meeting, Clow International Airport (eat your heart out, Newark!) hosted its annual "Cavalcade of New Planes." Me, Barry, Chris, Mick, Jude and Kevin, among others, met-up for breakfast and then enjoyed the fun of a fly-in and static display in our own back yard. Fly in, you ask? Why yes, I answer. Me, Barry and Kevin took the long way around getting our Light Sport Aircraft over to the tie-down area by the pumps: we look off on 36, flew the pattern, landed on 36, and pulled off the active to park. Why walk or taxi when you can fly there?
There were many interesting planes to see. Kevin was fascinated by the diesel-powered Diamond Twin Star. Mick and Jude wanted to take the Twin Bonanza in Hangar Two home. I enjoyed the Pitts with dual slip indicators, one mounted so that you could only properly use it while in inverted flight. All the while Karl Vacek in his Stearman and Arnie Zimmerman in his Breezy supported Young Eagles by giving dozens of rides.
