FVFC-E Powers Up!

By Brian Gilomen and Kevin Bertorelli

After a bunch of us returned from our trip to Erie Airpark over the weekend of September 20-21, we noticed that the power to our hangars was out.  That was going to require some serious effort to make things right!

It took a weekend or two for us to all agree (via the usual thousands of emails) how to approach the fix.  Then we delayed things another Saturday so we could enjoy the flight to the Prairie Lakes Brunch.  Then we were rained out.  Eventually, everything was in place to do the job on Saturday, October 18.

Kevin counted 9 guys who came out to help.  In total we trenched some 800 feet, laid about the same length of wire, and also laid 300 feet of drain tile.  Starting at 8:00 am and quitting after 5:00 pm made for a long day, but it was well worth the effort knowing that we had restored our main A/C feed, upgraded 4 original hangars with 8 gauge feed wire, and supplied 2 new hangars with good power.

Our thanks to everybody who helped in one way or another, but especially to those who made it out to do the actual work.  A special round of applause for Judy Pahnke for the great lunch she supplied!
