Brad Wolf concocted and invited all to the "First
Annual Fox Valley Flying Club, Pork and Bean Fly in to Grandpa's Farm"
("FAFVFCPaBFitGF"), scheduled to take
place on September 12. The plan was for Brad and Paul Syverson and
anyone else caring to tag along to depart Cushing field for Grandpa's Farm at 6pm for an overnight
excursion. Invitees were told to bring
their own tents and everything else they'd need. After a proposed refreshing
snooze on the ground in the rain on Friday night, those pulling it off would fly
to someplace for breakfast on Saturday morning -- if they felt like it.
The Hosts would offer:
Dinner was to be the sandwich that you brought with, plus a dip into the common pot of pork-n-beans.
The trip was sanctioned by the manager of Grandpa's Farm's FBO, Bob Krenz. Bob's rules were simple and direct:
Well, the weather didn't cooperate and the FAFVFCPaBFitGF was largely a bust. That didn't stop Brad and Paul, however, who had a great time sleeping is small tents in the rain and the cold.
Better luck next year!
