Minutes
of the June 5, 2003 Meeting of the Fox Valley Flying Club.
Recorded by Michelle Mills
Bill Mills convened the meeting at 7:20 p.m. with our
traditional moment of silence in honor of our departed members.
There was a change in the meeting order so that the several pilots from
Cushing could get back before dark.
The minutes were tabled and Ricky gave a treasures report.
The account balance was $1625.
There were 36 people in attendance with 3 visitors present.
We had several members and visitors fly in from Cushing.
Old Business: Tom talked about the Cushing Picnic to be held
next Saturday. Food would be served
starting at 11:00. A request was
made that everyone bring a dish to pass. It
was noted that there would be a $5/person charge. The events at the picnic would include Weight and Balance
checks well as an Inspection program check sheet.
This check sheet will be used to make suggestions for improvements on
safety related items.
On Saturday, June 28, there will be a fly-in at Clow.
The Wright Flyer will be available for viewing.
Breakfast will be served. The
FVFC has offered to work this event, and a sign up sheet was passed around for
volunteers. A minimum of 10 people are needed for event.
If anyone is available to help with moving tables and chairs on Friday,
June 27, meet at the hangers at 1:30. Inquire
on Saturday regarding the time to help move the chairs back on Sunday.
A suggestion was made that we wear our FVFC apparel.
The Oshkosh trip was discussed with 15 flyers interested and
7 drivers. It was suggested that we
look into getting a bus to go up for a day, which could include family members
as well. Joe Mahr will check into
this.
Brad talked about the emergency response forms.
These forms need to be turned in ASAP.
Brad also talked about the Yahoo web group and the ability to add and
take pictures.
Gordy discussed the Father’s day breakfast fly-in in
Geneseo.
Joe Simosky discussed a fly-in over July 4th, 5th,
6th in Elburn, 10 miles North of Aurora airport.
This will be on 40 acres with camping available.
Brian discussed the newsletter.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
After the meeting, Larry Gehrig’s plane experienced a tube
connector failure during high-speed taxi. The
amazing resources of our Club came together quickly.
While some folks worked to fabricate something that would work to hold
the parts together, Jim Wolak discovered that he had an essentially identical
replacement part in his junk bin. The
repair was made and Larry and guest were quickly on their way…
