A fundraiser for Ken Swasas and his family on Saturday, May 14th was attended by a good many FVFC members. The bowling alley owner in New Lenox donated the use of the facility to assist so all proceeds went directly to the family. We all made sure that his efforts did not go to waste!
Food was in abundance, the beer was flowing and silly bowlers were everywhere. Afterwards, Kevin commented to Debby and Donna Swasas:
"I don’t know the exact numbers but I do know that you guys put together a fantastic get together. The place was packed! It was really nice to spend some time with Ken. It looked like he enjoyed seeing all of his old friends and the new ones too. The food, the raffles, and the bowling all made your fundraiser a great success. Thanks for allowing us to help with Ken’s care. Below are some of the emails for the other guys from FVFC that attended."
Barry Ward wrote that he and Christine had a great time. They both were impressed with the size of the turnout and the amount of work that went into organizing the event.
Even though he was nearly a cripple at the time, Rickey made it with his friend Charmane and her daughter Brittany. He echoed Barry's comments:
"Charmane, Brittany, and I also had a GREAT TIME! Unfortunately, I was unable to bowl but my other way of participating (harrassing others) was FUN. I was somewhat hesitant about going because of the distance but I can not think of no better group to spend my birthday with. Thanks for the happy birthday wishes and I hope to participate in the NEXT bowling event - hopefully sponsored by FVFC."
Not to be left out, I dished a little about the sorry state of the bowlers:
"Regina and I had a blast also! Great turnout, plenty of food, fun people to talk to, and bad bowling. As Regina said: Beating Kevin made it all worth it. (just kidding!)
Thanks for coordinating!!"
