Fox Valley Flying Club

OSHKOSH SPECIAL EDITION!

August, 2004 Newsletter

Thoughts from the Editor:

Oshkosh!

A word that brings a big smile (or something else -- but this is a family Newsletter...) to all true pilots.

This year the Fox Valley Flying Club outdid itself.  At least 20 planes from our group made the 360-plus mile round-trip trek to those hallowed grounds of aviation.  Perhaps as many as thirty-five Club members and guests enjoyed the hospitality of the FVFC Campsite.  We were able to ogle thousands of planes of every type and description; watch death-defying feats of aerobatic prowess; hear the thunderous sound of freedom fly overhead in the form of military aircraft from nearly every decade of flight; and consume more cholesterol, alcohol and/or tar & nicotine in one sitting than is good for anyone.  Although we've only just returned, I have tried in this edition to capture and report a bit on some of the fun we had.

Also in this issue is coverage of several flights to Prairie Lakes; pictures from the July Club Meeting; notes from a visit by Kevin Complainorelli Bertorelli (I guess the spell-checker works after all) to a friend's farm; and a report on the atmospheric conditions at Starved Rock.

Don't forget that I rely on each of you send to me (via email to gilomen@ais.net) any and all stories about flying that you have done, flying that you want to do and flying that made you wish you had stayed on the ground, as well as any amusing anecdotes, grumpy gripes, scary stories and wanted/for sale/for trade ads.  The more stuff you send, the more interesting this Newsletter will be!
