Chicago Air and Water Show

On August 16, Jim Wolak and his son Jeff hosted a spur-of-the-moment day out on Jim's fabulous cabin cruiser.  The location:  Belmont Harbor and Lake Michigan.  The occasion:  the Chicago Air and Water Show!

Brian and Regina arrived from all of 10 blocks away via their trusty Honda scooter.  Mick and Jude, Rich and Deb, and Bill drove in from the Land Beyond O'Hare.  Guy and Dennis Plahetka and Dennis's girlfriend fetched up in front of the boat just before we shipped out.

It couldn't have been a better day!  The coolers were stocked with pop, beer and Mike's Hard Lemonade.  There was barely a cloud in the sky, and the water was warm enough for swimming -- which all of us took advantage of repeatedly.  We anchored in a fantastic location, and watched as lumbering tankers and Galaxy C5-A transports, B1-B bombers and F-15 Eagles passed directly overhead.  The highlight of the day was the Thunderbirds, who put on a spectacular 45 minute show right over our boat.  Rich captured it on video and I converted it to 2 CDs worth of QuickTime movie; pester him for a copy!
